21 Aug 07: Mitchell Industry Park wins at QMBA awards

The Qld Master Builders Association has recognised the Mitchell Sustainable Industry Park for its achievements in the field of environmental sustainability. Recently, the Park was announced winner in the Environmental Innovation category for the Gold Coast region at a glittering awards ceremony held at the Royal Pine Resort.

The Park will now line up against the Qld's best at the QMBA State Awards to be held in October.

QMBA member and Managing Director of Habitat Environment Management, Mr Matt Keys said that this award was justified recognition for the Park and its founder, Mr Bruce Mitchell. "It's terrific to see industry peers recognising the forward thinking that Bruce has demonstrated with his Park. He's pulling together the fundamental elements of sustainable development and focusing these  toward an industrial estate perspective. We often forget that industry is the major consumer of energy, water and materials and is also a key point polluter. Therefore, it's imperative that we collectively focus on the need to bring sustainability to the forefront of industrial parks and factories. The award is good kudos fror Bruce and I belive that it's the first award of many to come in the future for him."

The lake is a central componenrt of the industry park and delivers a natural habitat for fauna while also providing a relaxing setting for workers at the Park.
