Habitat Environment Management

25 Aug 07: Genesis hosts Sustainable Subdivisions event

A high powered group of developers, consultants and local government officers this week learned the nuts and bolts of sustainable urban development at a workshop held at Genesis at Coomera. The Sustainable Subdivisions event was organised by the Australian Green Development Forum and featured a walking tour through the award winning Heritage Pacific community.

Government authorities represented Gold Coast City Council, Caboolture Shire Council, Caloundra City Council, Pine Rivers Shire Council, Redland Shire Council and the Department of Public Works QLD.

Heritage Pacific Project Manager Steve Harrison said Genesis was an ideal model for future sustainable developments with extensive skills and resources invested to ensure that it met the highest environmental hurdles.

"We brought together some of the industry's leading environmental consultants to ensure Genesis represented all the major pillars of environmental design. To have it held up as a model for the future is a huge vote of confidence" he said.

Habitat Contibution to "Genesis"
Habitat's science team undertook comprehensive ecological assessments of the entire Genesis site prior to their development application being lodged with Gold Coast City Council. Heritage Pacific had an extensive demonstrated commitment to environmentally sustainable development prior to commencing the Genesis project. They had won numerous significant awards on other projects prior to Genisis and their vision was to lift the standard even further with the Genesis development. Once the detailed ecological survey and analysis were completed, Habitat prepared the Flora and Fauna Management plans for the development. This assisted significantly with delivering the overall urban development blueprint for Genesis.
